AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley are set to meet at AEW Revolution in an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch.

Deathmatches were originally pioneered in Japan and are rarely featured by major North American promotions.

Ahead of the highly anticipated clash, Kenny Omega took to social media to explain the rules of the contest, and did so complete with incredible ‘Kevin McCallister, Home Alone’ style drawing.

The drawing reveals that there will be:

-3 sides of the ring ropes wrapped in barbed wire.

-contact with barbed wire triggers explosives on corresponding side.

-‘Triple Hell’ (3 zones on the floor wired to explosives)

-30 minute countdown timer until all explosives in and around the ring detonate.

Ever since the match was announced, anticipation has been on the rise among wrestling fans across the world. Omega’s opponent Jon Moxley is no stranger to hardcore matches and has spoken extensively ahead of the contest. In an exclusive interview with Inside The Ropes‘ Lead Writer Gary Cassidy, for the former AEW World Champion has vowed to “live life to the fullest” and put his body on the line in pursuit of victory.

Moxley has also been speaking to DAZN, where he described his respect for his rival before adding that he believes that he and Kenny Omega are currently the best two wrestlers in the world right now.

I think we are the two best wrestlers in the world right now. Because if I had to answer why, I’d say because what we do, especially here at AEW, is we’re being the best versions of ourselves. We’re not being fettered or held back. We’re not being put in any boxes. We’re fully creating the things we want to create the things we want to be. We’re not being held back by just about anything.”

AEW Revolution takes place on March 7th. Viewers outside the United States can watch the pay-per-view via Fite TV.
