Kenny Omega’s Shoulder Injury Reportedly Requires Surgery

Kenny Omega makes his entrance at Full Gear

Kenny Omega could be set for an extended period on the side-lines with a new report suggesting that the former AEW Champion could require surgery.

According to a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Kenny Omega may require surgery to fix his long-standing shoulder issue. The report notes that it is hoped there will be more clarity on the situation in the coming weeks.

Following his defeat to “Hangman” Adam Page at AEW Full Gear it had been reported that Kenny Omega has been dealing with a number of injury issues in recent months.

After the match it was noted that Omega had been working with a shoulder injury which had been affecting his ability to train and the strength in his arms. In addition, the man himself recently revealed that he has been struggling with vertigo since 2018.

It had earlier been reported on Wrestling Observer Radio by Dave Meltzer that Kenny Omega would be evaluated at the November 17th episode of AEW Dynamite. After being checked out a decision would then be made as to whether the ‘Best Bout Machine’ will need to take a break from the ring.

Omega has been dealing with multiple issues for a number of months, but wanted to see his story with Adam Page through to it’s conclusion before potentially taking time off.

To date the former AEW Champion has wrestled 32 times in 2021.

It has also been reported that Eddie Kingston and Malakai Black sustained injuries at AEW Full Gear. Kingston has since confirmed that he “won’t miss any time” due to the reported shoulder issue.

Meanwhile, Dax Harwood of FTR was reportedly “knocked out, or nearly knocked out” during the AEW World Tag Team Match with The Lucha Bros. The incident was said to be taken place around ten minutes into the match, leaving the rest of the bout to be called on the fly.

Harwood wasn’t heavily involved in the rest of the match, and had been planned to play a role in the finish, but this altered.
