Kenny Omega Makes First Public Appearance Since AEW Title Loss

Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega has made his first AEW appearance since losing the World Championship in early November.

Kenny Omega hadn’t been seen on AEW television since early November on the Dynamite following Full Gear. At the event, Omega had finally lost his AEW World Championship to Hangman Adam Page, before briefly appearing on Dynamite to confirm that he was taking time away to “fix things.”

It was noted at the time that Omega was dealing with a number of injuries, including a torn labrum in his shoulder, a hernia and issues with his knees. The star himself also revealed that he had been struggling with vertigo since 2018.

However, prior to the March 23rd edition of AEW Dynamite, Omega made a short appearance on AEW’s awards show, where he was named Wrestler of the Year for 2021.

“To be honest I wasn’t sure if I’d want to stand in front of a camera accepting this Wrestler of the Year award. I thought maybe I should prioritise healing. Maybe I should prioritise rehabilitation. But 2021 was the hardest year of my wrestling career, it was a hard year for all of us. So while I’d rather not focus on the past and focus on the return, this [holds up award] is gonna serve as my motivation to come back. This, is gonna serve as my motivation to be the same guy, standing here in about a year’s time, holding up the 2022 edition of this trophy.”

It was recently reported that Kenny Omega is currently recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery. The recovery period for the surgery is said to be ten weeks. Furthermore, he is set to go under the knife again at the end of March to fix his sports hernia. The recovery time for this surgery is around two months.

There is said to be “no time frame” regarding his in-ring return.
