Kenny Omega Files Trademarks For ‘The Cleaner’ And More

On December 27, AEW World Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega filed for several trademarks through his own production company, KO 7 Productions LLC.

In an attempt to secure his past and indeed his future, one of the men widely regarded as the best in the world today filed for the rights to his ring name, ‘Kenny Omega’, the nickname which he made famous in Japan, ‘The Cleaner’, and the ownership of the Kenny Omega logo.

For the latter Omega filed two trademark requests, the first for merchandise purposes and the second for Entertainment Services, allowing him to use the name on television wherever he may decide to compete.

His filing descriptions to the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the nickname read:

IC 025. US 022 039. G & S: Hats; Shirts; Socks; Bandanas; Sweatshirts; Hooded sweatshirts. FIRST USE: 20140000. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 20140000.

IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing online interviews featuring professional wrestlers and sports entertainers in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes. As for the name, ‘Kenny Omega’, a further three filings were made for the ring name which has made him a worldwide star. The AEW World Heavyweight Champion seeks the rights to his ring name to use for nutritional supplements, merchandise, and of course Entertainment Services in order to continue to compete under the label.

His filing descriptions read:

The final filing was made for the Kenny Omega Logo, which may prove tricky for the star to obtain as it’s the commonly used symbol of the Greek alphabet. Recently, the USPTO ruled that AEW could not trademark the word ‘Stadium’ as it was a word used in every day society.

Their reaction Omega attempting to gain the rights to a symbol of a different country’s alphabet is yet to be seen. Regardless, the filing reads:

Kenny Omega will defend the AEW World Heavyweight Championship against Rey Fenix at AEW New Year’s Smash on January 6.
