Kenny Omega has revealed that he nearly squared off against Mick Foley in what would have been one of the most unlikely dream matches of all-time.
Omega made the claim on Twitter when posting in response to fans suggesting dream matches. The AEW World Champion responded to one fan in particular who suggested a clash between Omega and the WWE Hall of Famer.
‘The Cleaner’ went on to reveal that the match “almost happened a few years back” and would have been “something special.”
While a match against Foley would have undoubtedly been a sight to behold, the self-styled ‘Best Bout Machine’ currently has his hands full with Bryan Danielson.
Since joining AEW Danielson has been a constant thorn in the side of the World Champion wrestling him to a 30 minute draw at AEW Grand Slam a few short weeks ago. Meanwhile on the most recent episode of Dynamite, Danielson continued to taunt his rival. The American Dragon said that he and the fans wanted to see a rematch against Omega but that the champion was afraid of him.
Danielson went on to challenge any member of The Elite to a match on the following edition of Rampage. On the show, Danielson defeated Nick Jackson.
While Mick Foley became famous for his numerous retirements he finally hung up his leopard print boots in 2012. Despite almost a decade out of the ring, Foley remains active within the industry, often commenting on current events across numerous social media platforms.
The former WWE Champion recently aired his views on the issues he sees within WWE after Danielson, Adam Cole and Ruby Soho all debuted in AEW at All Out. Foley said that WWE “had a problem” and if he were still active he’s unsure he would trust the creative team.
