Keith Lee returned to AEW with revenge on his mind on the February 17th edition of Rampage.
The star had been absent from AEW TV since December 21st when he was attacked by Strickland and his new faction later dubbed Mogul Affiliates. After a vicious beatdown, Strickland hit a huge double stomp onto Lee who had a cinder block placed across his chest.
On his return, Lee came to the aid of Dustin Rhodes who was being attacked by Parker Boudreaux and Strickland. As the pair were about to stomp Rhodes’ head into a cinder block, Lee’s music distracted them and he appeared behind them in the ring.
Lee was unable to get his revenge on Strickland, however, as Boudreaux took a shot for him, allowing Swerve to escape the ring. The following week, Lee and Rhodes challenged Boudreaux and Swerve to a math on the March 1st edition of Dynamite.
Keith Lee wants to make history in AEW
While Lee’s immediate target is Swerve Strickland, he also has longer-term goals in mind. During a recent appearance on the Masked Man Show, the Limitless one explained that he intends to make history by becoming the first black AEW World Heavyweight Champion.
“Oh, I mean, let’s be honest here. Any place or any time that an individual goes to a company, it doesn’t have to be sports related or physical, When you go somewhere, most people [have goals or ambitions] of being that number one talent, that number one person, that number one mine, whatever it may be.
“The end goal is obviously to become AEW World Heavyweight Champion, and let’s be honest, I’m really good at making history. I would be [AEW’s first] black World Heavyweight Champion. I’m more than capable of doing that, I’m more than capable of carrying myself in a way that would be fitting and beneficial to a company.”
Lee has already held gold in the company, having previously capured the Tag Team Champions alongside Strickland in July 2022. However, after losing the titles at Dynamite Grand Slam the tensions between the pair bubbled to the surface, eventually leading to the break-up of the partnership.
