WWE have officially announced that Karrion Kross vs. Damian Priest will open NXT New Year’s Evil on January 6.
On top of the announcement, the USA Network – which airs NXT and Monday Night Raw – have promised that the first match of the night as well as the main event will commence without any commercial interruption. From beginning to end, both bouts will have zero interruptions.
Karrion Kross’ enmity with Damian Priest began on the December 9, 2020, edition of the black and gold brand when the former’s valet and real-life partner, Scarlett appeared in order to send a warning to NXT Champion Finn Balor.
Once the face of the brand had disappeared, Priest approached the leather clad manager and told her that if her boyfriend wanted a fight, then he should stop hiding in his car and come out and fight him.
‘The Archer of Infamy’ would regret those words later in the broadcast when he was blindsided by a rampaging Kross and decimated in the aisle. In the weeks that followed, Kross made the enmity against the former NXT North American Champion personal leading to their bout at New Year’s Evil.
Hosted by Dexter Lumis, the card for NXT New Year’s Evil shapes up like this:
- (c) Finn Balor vs. Kyle O’Reilly – NXT Championship Match
- (c) Santos Escobar vs. Gran Metalik – NXT Cruiserweight Championship Match
- Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Gonzalez – Last Woman Standing Match
- Tommaso Ciampa vs. Timothy Thatcher – Fight Pit Match
