It has recently been revealed that Karrion Kross was set to become the face of a brand new wrestling promotion before his return to WWE last week.
Kross, alongside his real-life partner Scarlett, made his return to WWE on the August 5th episode of SmackDown, attacking Drew McIntyre and staring down current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
The former NXT Champion originally had an ill-fated run on WWE’s main roster after his call up from NXT in July 2021. A complete overhaul of his presentation led to a disconnect with fans and which ultimately saw he and his wife released from the company that November.
However, Triple H clearly remains a fan of Kross and he has become one of a number of names to return to WWE since The Game took over creative control of the main roster.
It also appears that Triple H isn’t the only admirer of the former IMPACT Wrestling star. Freddie Prinze Jr. recently discussed plans to start up his own wrestling promotion and has revealed that he had hoped to use Kross as one of his main attractions.
Speaking on his ‘Wrestling With Freddie’ podcast, the Hollywood actor recalled conversations he’d had with the recently returned SmackDown star:
“I announced, on the first season of this (podcast) and with Ariel Helwani, that I was starting a wrestling federation. I still am, I’m working hard at it. My champion, and I’ve spoken with him a lot, was going to be Killer Kross. He was my guy. I was building the whole thing around him. We had kind of worked on the story, we talked about philosophy, his character, his wife’s character, with the caveat of ‘you can’t hold your career up to make my thing go. If you get other offers and you need to make a living, go make a living.’”
Prinze Jr. went on to reiterate that there are no hard feelings between himself and Kross and he wishes him the best in his latest WWE run:
“I didn’t know how fast this was going to happen. We say good bye, hang up, and the next day I’m watching the segment with Roman Reigns and Drew and all of a sudden, ‘my champion,’ runs out and kills Drew and puts him on the clock. ‘Oh, they’re putting a rocket ship on this man,’ which is what they should have done the first damn time. Even though it’s bittersweet, the dad in me is like, ‘Hell yeah, go make those bones’ and the artist in me is like, ‘Look at him, that’s a champion right there.'”
Karrion Kross and Scarlett look set to have a much more successful main roster run this time around with WWE reportedly having big pans for the couple.
