Karrion Kross finally spoke about his WWE contract situation.
The former NXT champion confirmed that his deal expired on August 10 and shared his thoughts in a YouTube video, catching the WWE Universe by surprise.
Kross expressed his desire to stay with the company and had made this clear from the start. He explained he reached out in January for a new contract and said it was “crazy” that people believed he wanted to leave the company.
I expressed interest to renegotiate in early January with WWE. I think it’s crazy, preposterous that anyone would think I wouldn’t wanna be here or go somewhere else,” Kross stated. (H/T: WrestlePurists)
The situation became frustrating over time as he waited months for serious talks, and many months passed without any real conversation. When the company finally contacted him, the discussion left him feeling disappointed.
It’s frustrating, because like you know, you express your interest to stay and be here and do things. I’m not gonna beg, I’ve made it very clear. The conversation was done and there wasn’t really anything discussed of any substance. And that, actually it didn’t make me angry and it didn’t make me upset, it just really profoundly disappointed me,” Kross said, expressing his disappointment.
The Karrion Kross Story in WWE
Kross had a unique journey in the company since joining in February 2020. He quickly made an impact in NXT and won the NXT Championship twice, defeating Finn Balor in April 2021.
His main roster debut, when he was still NXT Champion against Jeff Hardy in July 2021, didn’t go as planned. Hardy beat him in under two minutes, which damaged his character’s credibility.
Following his RAW shift, WWE removed Scarlett from his act and gave him a different attire and presentation, which did not sit well with fans. The company then released both Kross and Scarlett in November 2021.
Triple H brought them back next year in August, signaling a fresh start. The second run included mixed results, the formation of The Final Testament faction, and gaining fan support in recent months. The “We Want Kross” movement on social media caught everyone’s attention, with fans chanting for him at live events, including SummerSlam 2025 weekend.
His recent feud with Sami Zayn received praise for his character work and backstage interactions. As of now, his contract has expired on August 10.
