Glenn ‘Kane’ Jacobs has donated his pay from his appearance at the 2021 Royal Rumble to an education fund.
On January 31, 2021, ‘The Big Red Machine’ was one of the many surprise entrants in the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match when he strode through the hell fire at number eighteen and eliminated both Ricochet and WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion, Dolph Ziggler.
However, Kane’s participation lasted 1:51 before he was sent packing by former NXT North American Champion, Damian Priest, who tipped the legend over the summit with relative ease.
Following the event, CBS-WVLT in Knoxville, Tennessee is reporting that the star, in his capacity as Knox County Mayor, will donate the full fee he received for the appearance to the Knox County Mayor’s Applied Technology Scholarship Fund for the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville.
This isn’t the first time the talent has made such a gesture. In January 2021, he used $5,000 from his own salary in order to start the fund which benefits the children of Knox County employees who attend the college.
In order to be able to compete at the 2021 Royal Rumble, Kane was required to undergo a rapid COVID-19 test before leaving home, again upon arriving at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, as well as prior to returning to work on February 1. As per request by his Mayor’s office, the star also wore a CDC-recommended face covering when backstage.
