According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE hasn’t given former NXT Women’s Champion Kairi Sane permission to perform on the March 3 Stardom show.
At the beginning of January, it was reported that the one-time Kabuki Warrior was seeking permission from the company to appear on her former promotion’s stated show at Budokan Hall in Tokyo. Sane had held high hopes of a clearance from WWE after she was permitted to perform at Stardom’s Yokohama Cinderella event in October 2020 (albeit, she ultimately remained backstage and did not appear on the show itself).
As per the previous report, the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion had previously contacted the company’s Japanese office regarding the appearance but had heard nothing back until now.
In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that the talent was “unable to gain permission from WWE” and that Stardom “wanted her in a big singles match but also offered WWE having her do a Rumble with legends.”
Though the superstar retired from active in-ring competition in 2020, she is still currently under WWE contract and serves as an ambassador for the promotion in the land of the rising sun where she now resides with her husband.
Stardom’s show on March 3 will bring back legends from the company’s history, hence the reason Kairi Sane was approached being a former World Of Stardom, Wonder Of Stardom, three time Goddess Of Stardom and four time Artist Of Stardom Champion and one of the company’s biggest names in their illustrious history.
