KAIRI Suffers Painful Injury During STARDOM Match

In her first singles match since leaving WWE, KAIRI suffered a painful injury and is not advertised for upcoming STARDOM shows.

During her time in WWE, Kairi Sane found plenty of success as she held both the NXT Women’s Championship and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside fellow Japanese star Asuka. However, she has not wrestled for the company since since July 2020 where she defeated Bayley on an episode of Monday Night Raw. The following week Sane was attacked backstage by Bayley, taking her out of action. It was later revealed that the star was heading back to Japan.

Three months later in October it was confirmed that Sane had begun working as an ambassador for WWE in her homeland.

Now known simply as KAIRI, the star was recently announced for her first post-WWE matches at her old home promotion of STARDOM. She took on Starlight Kid at STARDOM World Climax: The Top on March 27th, but in the course of the match, she suffered a painful injury when her eardrum was ruptured. Despite the injury, KAIRI was victorious in the bout when she pinned Starlight Kid after one of her iconic elbow drops.

Speaking at a press conference after the show, KAIRI confirmed that her eardrum had ruptured and that she couldn’t hear anything. However, she said she was happy with the pain.

The previous night at STARDOM World Climax: The Best, KAIRI teamed up with Mayu Iwatani and defeated Cosmic Angels. This tag match marked her return to the ring for the first time since 2020.

KAIRI is a former World of Stardom Champion, Wonder of Stardom Champion, three-time Goddess of Stardom Champion (a record she holds with Kyoko Kimura), and four-time Artist of Stardom Champion.
