NXT Superstar, Kacy Catanzaro has spoken out about the videos in which she was captured not wearing a mask while attending a restaurant prior to the 2021 Super Bowl.
On February 7, 2021, several pieces of footage emerged on social media of Catanzaro and a group of friends sitting down for a meal without the group taking the proper precautions relating to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Once the video was uploaded, the talent received much backlash from fans all over the world who chastised her for putting herself, her friends and her colleagues in danger ahead of the February 10 edition of NXT.
Now, the talent has taken to Twitter in order to explain her actions and address the concerns of those who have taken her to task for her action. In the statement, Kacy insisted that she followed all guidelines according to the Florida government and will make sure to remain masked while she is not eating:
“I just wanted to get on here and be able to talk to everyone for a minute. I know that people are concerned that I was at a restaurant over the weekend. I want everyone to know that I hear you and I appreciate the concern. Here where I live in Florida restaurants are open to a certain capacity. You have to wear a mask when you go in, and when you leave, and really any time that we aren’t sitting down at our table we have to have a mask but when we are sitting down to eat or drink we are allowed to take our masks off. I know that that’s the part that people saw, that people were upset with. I’m sorry for anybody that is upset. I understand your concern and I want you to know that I do care about the safety of others around me and myself and I follow all of the protocol. Luckily for me with work, we get tested at least once a week, if not twice sometimes, and I carry my hand sanitizer with me everywhere. Everywhere that we have to, I wear my mask. I’m sorry that this moment made people think otherwise, but I just want you all to know that I hear you, I appreciate the concern, I am looking out for the safety of others around me as well as trying to take care of myself the best I can, and I wish the best for everybody else.”
While many are still displeased with the star, it is worth noting that in many states and even countries around the world, COVID-19 guidelines outline that masks do not have to be work if someone is eating or drinking, even in a public place.
Kacy Catanzaro has been busy on weekly NXT television teaming with Kayden Carter in the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The pair made it to the Semi-Final on the February 3 edition of the black and gold brand where they fell to Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez.
At time of writing, the Twitter account belonging to the star no longer exists.
