Jurassic Express Win AEW World Tag Team Championships

Jurassic Express

Jungle Boy and Luchsaurus from Jurassic Express have won the AEW World Tag Team Titles on Dynamite!

On a night where Jade Cargill was crowned the first-ever TBS Champion, AEW also got new Tag Team Champions as Jurassic Express overcame the Lucha Bros.

The match had been set following a chaotic ten-man tag team match on the December 29th episode of Dynamite, and the carnage continued all the way into the new year.

The match took a little time to click into gear but soon both teams were firing on all cylinders. Luchasaurus attempted to take control of proceedings with his superior power but Lucha Bros never let the big man settle, flying around the ring to nullify the threat. The final third of the bout was one incredible kick-out after another.

Penta kicked out of a Death Valley Driver from Luchasaurus before AEW’s resident dinosaur was taken out by a Destroyer from Fenix. Meanwhile, Penta hit Made in Japan on Jungle Boy, but he also kicked out.

The champions looked to have the match won before the lights went out, leaving them confused and disorientated. Once they had gathered themselves, Fenix took out Luchasaurus with a dive to the outside, with Penta hitting a Fear Factor on the apron, and then another inside the ring with the help of Fenix, but somehow, Jungle Boy kicked out.

An incredulous Abrahantes pulled out a table at ringside before being run off up the ramp by Christian Cage who had also been watching on. Back inside the ring, Luchasaurus delivered a devastating Chokeslam on Fenix to the floor through the table.

In the process it appeared that Fenix suffered a nasty injury to his arm, although this is yet to be confirmed.

Left alone to their own devices in the ring, Jungle Boy countered another Made in Japan into a roll up to grab the win.

The victory marks the first time that Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus have have had their hands on championship gold in AEW.

The Lucha Bros won the AEW World Tag Team Championships back in September 2020 when they defeated the Young Bucks. Their final defence came against FTR on the December 8th edition of Dynamite.
