Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos has addressed his professional wrestling future ahead of his debut on AEW Rampage.
On October 15th former Mixed Martial Arts star Junior Dos Santos will make his in-ring pro wrestling debut. Teaming with Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page, the trio will look to take down Chris Jericho, Jake Hager and Sammy Guevara. Fellow UFC star Jorge Masvidal will also be in the corner of the Men of the Year.
Speaking to Marc Raimondi of EPSN ahead of his debut, Junior Dos Santos said that he is going out with the intention of putting on a good show.
“I’m a combat sports man. I’ve been training my whole life. No doubts, I know how to fight and I’m going to go there to fight. I’m gonna go there to finish these guys. I know it’s not a joke. You’re going to go there, put on a good show, and give your best. I’m ready for that. I’ve been training some good skills with King Mo and many guys from the gym. Everybody is willing to go in the ring and represent our gym and defend our name. I’m privileged to be in this position and I’m going to do my best,”
The former UFC Heavyweight Champion was then asked whether he sees a future for himself inside the squared circle.
Of course. I’ve been enjoying everything I’m doing and to get in the ring to be fighting again, to be performing, to give my best performance for everybody to watch is amazing. I’m very excited about this. I’m happy and feeling that good energy.”
The news comes after Junior Dos Santos’ UFC rival Cain Velasquez revealed that he will be getting back in the ring in December. The star will be returning to AAA having not competed inside the ring since November 2019.
Meanwhile another former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Brock Lesnar is making his own return to action at WWE Crown Jewel on October 21st. The Beast hasn’t wrestled since losing to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36 in April 2020.
