To the delight of a packed house at Daily’s Place, Jungle Boy has won the AEW Casino Battle Royale.

For much of the match it looked as though Christian Cage would live up to his motto and outwork everyone as he went from bell to bell. Cage was the first man in and came within touching distance of the win before Jungle Boy’s speed and ingenuity propelled him to victory.

While the likes of Powerhouse Hobbs and Penta El Zero enjoyed strong showings, in the end it came down to Matt Hardy, Jungle Boy and Christian Cage.

After a fun nostalgic stare down between Cage and Hardy, it was Cage who threw his long-time rival over the top rope.

The match came to an end after Christian threw Jungle Boy into the ring post on the outside. However, Jungle Boy performed a stunning Tarzan swing around the post before eliminating Cage with his legs.

The victory means that Jungle Boy will now go on to challenge for the AEW World Championship.

The match also featured the AEW debut of Lio Rush.

After enjoying a fine run on the independent scene, Rush signed with WWE in 2017. Despite winning the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, Rush was released in April 2020. Since leaving the company the high flyer has competed in mainly in MLW and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

The newcomer enjoyed a dazzling run after being revealed as the Joker entrant. After unleashing an array of eye-catching offence, Rush was eventually thrown over the top rope by Matt Hardy.

Jungle Boy will now face the winner of the AEW Championship match between Kenny Omega, PAC and Orange Cassidy.
