Shad Gaspard’s son lovingly paid tribute to his father by recreating the Cryme Tyme handshake with Shad’s former tag team partner JTG at the WWE Hall Of Fame.
There was not a dry eye in the house as Shad Gaspard received the Warrior Award at the WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony for his actions that saved his son’s life and tragically cost him his own.
Dana Warrior introduced the Warrior Award at the 2022 WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony before introducing Shad Gaspard’s wife Siliana and son, Aryeh to accept the award on Shad’s behalf. They were accompanied to the ring by Shad Gaspard’s former Cryme Tyme tag team partner JTG, with JTG and Aryeh paying tribute to Shad by recreating the Cryme Tyme handshake in a heartwarming moment.
JTG and Gaspard had been a tag team since their time in WWE developmental where they were collectively known as The Gang Stars. Gaspard and JTG – then known as The Neigborhoodie – captured the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship. Bigger things came for the duo in October 2006 as the two stars made their Raw debut as Cryme Tyme.
Shad Gaspard passed away in May 2020 after he and a group of swimmers were caught in a strong rip current. When lifeguards arrived to rescue the group Gaspard heroically directed them to save his son, who was among the swimmers, before helping him. Sadly by the time rescuers returned it was too late and Shad Gaspard’s body was recovered three days after going missing, he was 39 years old.
