Tonight’s WWE RAW saw WWE’s 7’3″ Superstar Jordan Omogbehin align with AJ Styles on the Season Premiere.
Omogbehin made his presence felt both in the ring, intimidating a referee, and on the outside to help The Phenomenal One pick up a victory over Matt Riddle.
Fightful Select had previously reported that it had been pitched for Omogbehin to become Styles’ bodyguard or enforcer following AJ’s switch from SmackDown to Raw in the WWE Draft.
Following a career in basketball, 7-foot-3 giant Omogbehin was recruited for NXT two years ago alongside Raw stars Mia Yim and Matt Riddle and current NXT North American Champion Damian Priest.
During the Covid-era, he has been utilised as a masked giant ninja in comedy segments involving Akira Tozawa and the 24/7 Title, in addition to serving as a bouncer on the seemingly-cancelled Raw Underground.
Styles has had an unusual year, having started out as a Raw performer in a faction known as The O.C. alongside Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, which culminated in a WrestleMania main event appearance on the first night of the show in a fabulous Boneyard Match against The Undertaker.
When Gallows and Anderson were fired on Black Wednesday in April, Styles blamed Paul Heyman for the departure of his buddies and demanded a switch to the blue brand to get away from Heyman, who was leading creative on Raw at the time.
But with Heyman gone from his post and back on SmackDown as the advisor to Roman Reigns, and with Styles wanting to be able to attend his son’s sports games, he asked for and received a move back to Raw in the draft.
With Omogbehin by his side, this could mark the start of a new – more stable – era for The Phenomenal One.
