With major changes in WWE taking place over the last month, another name could be set to join the stars that have recently returned to the company, NJPW star JONAH.
Since Vince McMahon announced his retirement from WWE in July the company has gone through a great deal of upheaval. Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan have taken over the corporate side of WWE while Triple H has replaced his father-in-law as the promotion’s creative figurehead.
The founder of the NXT brand has wasted little time in making his mark in his new role as Triple H has brought back Hit Row, Dakota Kai, Scarlett, Karrion Kross, and Johnny Gargano to WWE after they were previously released or left when their contract expired.
The Game has also made moves behind the scenes, bringing back his long-time colleague Road Dogg to an executive role in the company.
Now speaking on We’re Live Pal, Andrew Zarian has suggested another name could be set for a return, the man currently known as JONAH:
“I’ve heard one name over the last few weeks and that’s JONAH. Great G1 [Climax], I talked to a friend over there casually in Connecticut…he’s a name. Bronson Reed got the sh*t end of the stick with his positioning. He’s very good, he has the size, he had this awesome entrance with the background.”
“I don’t know him at all personally. I don’t know if anything behind the scenes happened, anything beyond that, but I can tell you there are people very interested in him because of his talent, his performance in the G1. He’s a name that people are interested in. I don’t know what his deal is, but he has come up as a name that I’ve heard.”
Jonah finished the G1 Climax tournament in New Japan Pro Wrestling in second place in Block A, behind eventual winner, Kazuchika Okada. WWE fans will know the star better as Bronson Reed, a former stalwart of NXT who captured the North American Championship on the then-black and gold brand.
