Jon Moxley Wins GCW World Championship, Challenges Nick Gage

Jon Moxley

Jon Moxley made a shocking appearance at GCW’s The Art of War Games and walked out as the new GCW World Champion.

Going into the event, Matt Cardona, who shocked the wrestling world himself when he defeated Nick Gage for the title on June 6th, had made it known he would be issuing an open challenge for the championship during the show. Initially, he introduced Frank the Clown as his opponent and defeated him in short order. Following this, G-Raver approached the ring with a group of druids. Cardona drove off several of the druids but one remained who surprised everyone in attendance when he dropped Cardona with a Paradigm Shift DDT. He then unmasked, revealing himself to be Jon Moxley. Moxley produced a set of light tubes and hit the Paradigm Shift again, this time onto the tubes, and pinned Cardona to capture the championship.

Following the bout, Nick Gage confronted Moxley in the ring, with Moxley telling him that if he wanted a match, he knew where to find him. GCW has now released a video of Moxley on Twitter where the former AEW Champion laid down a challenge for Gage to face him at the company’s event in Atlantic City on October 9th.

Before his match with Nick Gage, Jon Moxley will face NJPW star Satoshi Kojima at All Out on September 5th live on pay per view. Kojima joins an ever-growing list of New Japan stars who have appeared in AEW since the start of the year. Moxley previously defended his IWGP United States Championship against Yuji Nagata on Dynamite, while Hikuleo, Kenta and Ren Narita have all appeared.
