Jon Moxley has moved one step closer to becoming AEW World Champion after booking himself a spot in the match to crown the Interim at Forbidden Door.
The former AEW World Champion booked his place at Forbidden Door after overcoming Kyle O’Reilly in a breathtakingly intense brawl in the main event of Dynamite.
Although fans wouldn’t have expected the match to be anything else, the two combatants went to war. Physicality was the order of the day with the pair exchanging a series of hard-hitting strikes and submissions.
The end came in typically brutal fashion, after a running knee of Moxley, he scooped his rival up to deliver the Paradigm Shift for the three count.

With victory, Jon Moxley will face the winner of the clash at New Japan Dominion between Hiroshi Tanahashi and Hirooki Goto.
A huge Casino Battle Royale had opened the show which came down to O’Reilly and Wheeler Yuta. The young Blackpool Combat Club star was making his return after an impressive showing at the Best of the Super Juniors Tournament in Japan in recent weeks. Despite pushing O’Reilly all of the way it was the reDRagon star who eventually scored the win.
After only being crowned AEW World Champion at Double or Nothing, CM Punk walked to the ring just days later on Rampage with tears in his eyes. With microphone in hand, Punk announced that he required surgery so would be out of action for the foreseeable future.
The champion then revealed that he is set to undergo surgery, however, despite initially feeling he should relinquish the World Title, he was informed by AEW President Tony Khan that he didn’t need to.
The announcement was met with confusion as despite Punk appearing to say he wasn’t giving up the title, on commentary, Chris Jericho repeatedly said that he had. However, Punk has since revealed that Tony Khan made it clear he “wasn’t allowed” to vacate the title.
