Jon Moxley Set To Compete In Title Vs. Career Match

Jon Moxley AEW World Champion

Jon Moxley is scheduled to defend the GCW World Championship against Nick Gage – but if Gage loses, his career as a pro wrestler is over.

‘The Death Rider’ demanded real competition after seeing off a challenge from EFFY during Game Changer Wrestling’s Homecoming event in New Jersey, a call that was answered by Nick Gage. It was accepted, of course, but only if Gage put something of his own on the line too; his career.

It’s currently unknown when or where the match will take place. This decision lies with the champion.

Jon Moxley has held GCW’s World Championship since dethroning Matt Cardona last September. The Blackpool Combat Club co-founder has enjoyed subsequent defences over Homicide, Blake Christian, and even Nick Gage himself, having one of the longest reigns in the title’s lengthy history.

Nick Gage, meanwhile, is a former champion in his own right, having the longest run at 722 days between December 2017 and December 2019. 35 defences were made during this time, the most for any GCW champion.

Gage has been out of action for a period of time, having last competed in May. He addressed the future of his in-ring career during a recent interview with Rewind, Recap, Relive:

“I’m about to go on another run. What I want to do, especially at this part of my career, I want to go out there, have fun, tear sh*t up, have great matches, and enjoy myself. That’s what I want to do. When I do that, life is beautiful, wrestling is awesome. Just enjoying life and keep wrestling until I can’t wrestle no more.”
