Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley may be standing at opposite ends of the ring when they clash in an Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match at AEW Revolution. However, the pair are also on opposite ends of the debate as to whether AEW and WWE could ever work together.
Recently, Kenny Omega opened up to Alex McCarthy of TalkSPORT about how he believes the two companies working together could be a “reality” in the future, but former AEW and WWE Champion Jon Moxley definitely doesn’t agree.
In an exclusive interview with Inside The Ropes‘ Lead Writer Gary Cassidy, Mox was asked for his thoughts on a potential partnership between WWE and AEW.
“That would never happen. That’s not even worth wasting any mental energy to… You know. I mean, if you want to fantasy book some cool s**. You know, maybe you could fantasy book it for, like, fun magazine, stuff. You know, Like back in the day, in magazines, you used to always have, like, “Dream match. Bill Goldberg versus Steve Austin,” in ’98. But that ain’t gonna happen.”
When the possibility of a Jon Moxley vs Roman Reigns match right now was brought up in comparison to Goldberg vs Stone Cold, Moxley went on to say that it would be cool to have a Tokyo Dome show between AEW, NJPW and WWE – but reiterated that it would never happen saying, “They stay over there.”
“It’d be cool to think about the cool s**t that could happen, you know, like a big summit at the Tokyo Dome, AEW, NJPW, WWE or some s**t but that s**t ain’t going to happen. So, you know, they do their thing. They stay over there.”
Thanks to Jon Moxley for taking the time, and to All Elite Wrestling for setting up the chat. You can read the full interview here.
