Jon Moxley Left “Furious” By Recent AEW Decision

Jon Moxley

Back in January, it was announced that Jon Moxley would be headed overseas to compete in Irish promotion Over the Top Wrestling, or OTT, for their ScrapperMania 7 event.

However, AEW later pulled him from the event, scheduling him to take part in the AEW House Rules live event in Troy, OH on the same night. A press release from OTT regarding the situation read as follows:

“Unfortunately AEW have confirmed that due to a newly added live event on March 18th in Ohio, USA, Jon Moxley will no longer be able to appear at OTT ScrapperMania 7. However, AEW have confirmed that they will send two replacements, one of whom will be Eddie Kingston with second name to be confirmed in the coming days. We would like to express out deepest apologies to our fans who have been looking forward to seeing Jon Moxley but our team are working hard around the clock to make sure ScrapperMania 7 surpasses all expectations.”

Eddie Kingston did travel to Ireland, but unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19 and was unable to appear at the event. Moxley teamed with Claudio Castagnoli at House Rules to defeat Big Bill and Lee Moriarty of The Firm.

“I Hate Having That Weight” – Jon Moxley On Missing OTT Booking

Speaking to his wife Renee Paquette on The Sessions, Moxley made it clear that he’s more than happy to do house shows, but he was “f**king furious” about being pulled from the OTT booking he’d already missed once before.

“The thing with OTT the other week, I was f**king furious about.

“Totally happy to do the (AEW) house show. You’re telling me I’m gonna do a show and I only have to drive 90 miles to Troy, Ohio? Great. What better way to spend a Saturday night?

“But I was already booked on that day. It’s just this weight – the dates I missed when I was in rehab. I missed a DEFY show, and whatever else, a bunch of AEW shows and a pay-per-view. Having that weight on my back of a date I feel like I’ve gotta make up, I feel so bad about it. I hate having that weight.

“So now I still have to go to OTT. I will make that date up. Sorry about that unfortunate circumstance, fans in Ireland.” (h/t WrestleTalk)
