Jon Moxley In-Ring Return Confirmed

Jon Moxley

Jon Moxley is set to return to action for the first time since October when he steps back inside the ropes on January 23rd.

In early November, AEW President Tony Khan announced on social media that Jon Moxley was entering an outpatient alcohol treatment program. In his statement Khan said that Moxley had made a “brave” decision and the company would be supporting him in any way they could.

The announcement came just days after Moxley had beaten Jimmy Jacobs at REVOLVER Tales From The Ring 4 in what would turn out to be his last match for nearly three months.

It has now been confirmed that Moxley will be returning to the ring on January 23rd at The Wrld on GCW. The event held at the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom will see Moxley defend his GCW World Championship against Homicide.

When Moxley stepped away from the ring he was in the midst of competing in the AEW World Title Eliminator tournament. After seeing off Ten of the Dark Order, the former World Champion had been scheduled to meet Orange Cassidy in the semi-finals. Instead, Moxley was replaced by Miro who crushed Cassidy and was beaten by Bryan Danielson in the final at Full Gear.

In the months that followed, Danielson took AEW Champion Hangman Adam Page to a time-limit draw, before being defeated in a blood-soaked rematch.

Moxley’s most recent match in GCW took place on October 9th when he defeated Nick Gage.

At time of writing it is unclear when Moxley will make his return to AEW television.
