While there have been many greats over the years, Jon Moxley declares who he believes is the “greatest professional wrestler to ever live.”
After a brutal feud that saw the two men bleed together at Revolution, Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson joined forces as part of the Blackpool Combat Club under the guidance of William Regal.
Speaking in the post-show media scrum following Forbidden Door on June 26th, Moxley had high praise for his teammate.
βIn my book, Bryan Danielson is the greatest professional. People say like, β[Hiroshi] Tanahashi is one of the greatest ever, Jericho is the GOAT,β you know, just for my money, my opinion, the greatest professional wrestler to ever live, to ever do it in the ring, is Bryan Danielson.β
Though Danielson was originally supposed to face Zack Sabre, Jr. at Forbidden Door, he revealed on the June 22nd episode of Dynamite that he was dealing with an injury that would keep him off both the pay per view and the following week’s Dynamite, where he was set to be part of the Blood and Guts match. However, Zack Sabre, Jr. would still compete at Forbidden Door against an opponent hand-picked by Danielson.
The opponent turned out to be none other than Claudio Castagnoli, who made his surprise AEW debut at Forbidden Door and joined the Blackpool Combat Club. Castagnoli also took part in the Blood and Guts match, securing the victory for his team by making “Daddy Magic” Angelo Parker submit. This led to tension between the former Cesaro and his long-time rival Eddie Kingston, despite the two being teammates in the match.
