Johnny Knoxville has suggested that he will not be coming to the ring alone for his upcoming appearance in the Royal Rumble match.
The actor recently spoke to Liz Miller of the St. Louis Dispatch to promote the upcoming Jackass Forever movie, due to be released in cinemas on February 4th. When asked about his involvement in the Royal Rumble match, Knoxville has said that he will be bringing backup:
“I’ve got some corner men I’m bringing with me. I’m going to have the greatest corner there that night.”
While not officially stated that the co-stars of Jackass Forever will be the corner men in question, given that the movie is due to be released in theatres less than a week after the Royal Rumble, the cast will be appearing wherever possible to promote the upcoming movie. WWE have frequently used film releases as part of their Premium Live Events. Most infamously, zombies were used as lumberjacks in a match between Damian Priest and The Miz to promote the Netflix release Army of the Dead.
As seen in the Jackass movies, Johnny Knoxville is no stranger to pain. However, Knoxville himself feels good about his chances going into the match, and also has his sights sets on two other entrants in the match:
“People are going to get hurt, but it’s not going to be me,” Knoxville said. “We’re talking about that low-down and dirty Sami Zayn and that pretty boy Austin Theory. There was a pretty boy named Austin Theory who saw me throw Sami out on this back. Some say Theory’s a chicken, now that theory is a fact.”
Johnny Knoxville first stated his intentions to enter the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble during the WWE Day 1 Premium Live Event. Knoxville would go on to qualify for the match by throwing Sami Zayn over the top rope during the January 7th episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
