Johnny Gargano’s WWE Contract Reportedly Set To Expire Soon

Johnny Gargano makes his way to ring

According to a new report, NXT Superstar Johnny Gargano could soon be a free agent.

The news comes after former NXT Champion Adam Cole left WWE in August, later signing with AEW. Kevin Owens’ deal is also expiring “sooner rather than later” and Sami Zayn’s contract is reportedly due to run out in the near future.

The new report from Fightful Select notes that Gargano’s WWE contract runs out on December 3rd 2021. The two sides are yet to enter into negotiations over a new deal but are “expected to in the Fall.” It’s also highlighted that WWE are aware of Gargano’s contract expiring, unlike the deal’s of Adam Cole and Pete Dunne.

In addition, WWE have reportedly reviewed a number of contracts after the error which saw Malakai Black’s non-compete clause not updated. Meaning he was able to sign with AEW, just 30 days after being released by WWE. It is also mentioned that the company expected Cole’s contract to expire roughly when Gargano’s does, and hoped to speak to them both ahead of that period before discovering that Cole’s deal expired in July.

Johnny Gargano began appearing for WWE in 2015, before signing with the company properly the following year. In the years that followed, he became NXT’s first ever Triple Crown Champion, by winning the NXT, North American and Tag Team Titles.

Gargano currently forms part of The Way alongside side his wife Candice LeRae. The couple announced in August that they were expecting their first child.
