Former NXT Grand Slam Champion Johnny Gargano has reacted to the shocking news of William Regal’s WWE release by sharing a heartwarming tribute to the former NXT General Manager commenting that without Regal “a lot of your favourite guys wouldn’t be on television.”

As reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, William Regal has left WWE. The report comes after it was confirmed that Road Dogg, who had been working at the Performance Center had also been released.

The report from Johnson adds that Chris Guy, also known as Ace Steel, who worked as a coach, notably with CM Punk has also left the company. Also departing is Dave Kapoor aka Ranjin Singh who was working with the NXT brand after previously managing The Great Khali, and Ryan Katz who had been working with NXT since 2015.

Katz was directly involved in creative character development and taught promo classes following the death of Dusty Rhodes.

It has since been reported by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp that Scott Armstrong has also been released.

Taking to social media, former NXT Champion, Johnny Gargano spoke on Regal’s WWE release adding that the fifteen-time champion was responsible for helping get some of NXT’s best on television and that he deserves a proper WWE send-off complete with flowers and thanks.

“If it wasn’t for William Regal a lot of your favorite guys wouldn’t be on television. He got so many of us “indie guys” an opportunity. He will never take credit for that, but he deserves his flowers for helping and molding this generation of wrestlers. #ThankYouRegal “

Gargano departed the WWE in December 2021 following six years with the company that saw the Ohio native capture the NXT, NXT Tag Team and NXT North American Championships whilst becoming the ‘heart and soul’ of NXT.

Johnny Gargano’s post was complete with an incredible picture of himself, William Regal and the former NXT Champion Tomasso Ciampa who has just lost the NXT Championship to NXT 2.0 Superstar Bron Breakker at NXT’s New Years Evil event.

Johnny Gargano recently explained on his Twitch channel the next adventure for him is fatherhood and he wants to enjoy that time and the time he has left before it with his family:

“A lot of people don’t realize, obviously the baby is due in February. Candice (LeRae) and I are really just trying to enjoy the next couple of months we have together. You don’t think about this stuff, but this is really going to be the last time it’s going to be me and Candice and Pawdme. I really want to enjoy as much time as I have with Candice and Pawdme before the little rascal arrives and it becomes a whole new world for me.”
