Johnny Gargano has told fans following NXT WarGames that he will tell them “everything” on the next edition of NXT 2.0 as his WWE status remains shrouded in questions.
Contract issues within WWE have made major headlines this year with several rounds of mass releases made along with several stars whose deals have expired and they have moved onto pastures new.
WWE was reportedly caught on the hop in the summer when Adam Cole’s contract reportedly expired in July. The Undisputed Era star signed a short-term extension that allowed him to compete through to NXT TakeOver: 36 where he lost to Kyle O’Reilly. Following that bout, Cole went on to reunite with The Elite when he joined AEW.
Fightful Select previously reported that Johnny Gargano had signed a short term-extension to his WWE deal prior to being announced for a WarGames match on December 5th. Gargano joined with Tommaso Ciampa, LA Knight, and Pete Dunne as Team Black & Gold against Team 2.0 made up of team of Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Tony D’Angelo, and Grayson Waller.
With that short-term deal slated to wrap up on December 10th, it could be that NXT is about to say goodbye to Johnny Wrestling after five years.
Following NXT WarGames, Johnny Gargano spoke to the fans inside the Capitol Wrestling Center and told them to come back on Tuesday night because he has some things to get off his chest:
“You guys are saying thank you to me, but really, I want to say thank you to all of you. Because without all of you, there wouldn’t be a Johnny Wrestling, and that’s true. [Crowd chants we love you] And you guys know that I love you right back. But with that love, I am an open book to you guys, and I am always 100% honest and 100% authentic with you because I feel like you guys aren’t just fans.”
“We’ve known each other for such a long time now, you guys are like my family, this is like my family. And right now, I’m beat up, I’m tired, I’m sore, I’ve got a lot on my mind, but I want to tell you you guys everything. And I will tell you everything this Tuesday night. Everyone come back here this Tuesday night, and I’m going to tell you guys everything, ok?”

According to another report, the former NXT Champion might not be the only NXT star leaving the company following the expiration of their contract.
