Johnny Gargano

Johnny Gargano’s Elimination Chamber ring gear was inspired by a different franchise than what is usually seen.

Johnny Wrestling frequently wears the special attire in reference to characters from Marvel Comics, which Gargano is a huge fan of. Past cosplays have been inspired by superheroes Iron Man, Captain Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Peter Quill.

Johnny Gargano Returned To WWE In August 2022

Gargano kept the tradition of special themed attires alive at the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event, but took inspiration from a new source.

In a post on social media, the former NXT Champion revealed that his ring gear in the match was inspired by popular children’s TV show Bluey. Johnny Gargano stated that he was not able to attend his son’s first birthday in its entirety, so made the decision to wear the gear inspired by his son’s favourite programme.

Gargano competed in the Men’s Elimination Chamber against Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed, Damian Priest, Montez Ford and United States Champion Austin Theory, who was defending his title in the match. Gargano started the match against Rollins, being eliminated by Damian Priest.

The match was ultimately won by Theory, retaining the championship by last eliminating Rollins. As Montez Ford was being attended to by the medical team, Logan Paul would run through the open door, blindsiding Rollins with a front flip clothesline and a stomp. The interference was enough for Austin Theory to it the A Town Down to win the match.

The show Bluey was created in Australia, and is based around a family of dogs, with the aforementioned Bluey as the main character in the show, along with sister Bingo and parents Bandit and Chilli. The show has been praised for its positive family and social values.

The 2023 Elimination Chamber match was the first time that Johnny Gargano has competed inside of the steel structure. The inside of the chamber adds to the long list of locations where Johnny Wrestling has competed, once having a match inside of a prison.
