Johnny Gargano is set to have his first match since December on next week’s episode of Raw!
Former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano hasn’t been seen inside a WWE ring since December of 2021, when his team representing the black & gold era of NXT lost to the upstart team representing NXT 2.0. The next Tuesday on NXT, he said a tearful goodbye to the crowd before being attacked by Grayson Waller, writing him off television as his contract was expiring.
During his time away from WWE, Gargano and his wife Candice LeRae welcomed their son Quill into the world, and the Rebel Heart said that he considered stepping away from wrestling altogether.
However, on the August 22nd episode of Monday Night Raw, Johnny Gargano made his grand return to WWE, something that was heavily rumored to be happening when Triple H took power following Vince McMahon’s retirement. He was confronted by Mr. Money in the Bank Austin Theory, who he’d mentored during their time in The Way in NXT. The next week, during an empty arena interview, Theory once again confronted his former NXT dad.
On the Labor Day edition of Raw, Gargano was interviewed backstage by Sarah Schreiber, and he said that he was ready to get back to action in the WWE. He announced that he’ll be competing on next week’s episode of Raw, but his opponent has yet to be determined.
