Johnny Gargano has admitted to still watching the WWE product, naming three NXT 2.0 Superstars as potential huge deals for the future of WWE.
Throughout the black-and-gold era of NXT, Johnny Gargano was unquestionably the face of the brand. One of only two Triple Crown Champions in the brand’s history, Gargano officially departed the promotion on 10 December after opting not to renew his contract.
Despite no longer being under contract to the sports entertainment giant, Johnny Gargano does still watch the product, as he told Good Karma Wrestling. During their chat, the former #DIY man cited three female NXT 2.0 Superstars who he believes will have a bright future in the company:
“Cora Jade and Roxanne, in general, have a special place in my heart because they’re kind of just like me, they’re fans growing up that dreamed of wrestling for WWE and dreamed of doing this. Now those two girls are getting the opportunity to go out there and live their dream and show their passion to the world and make things happen. So, I am super happy to see those two get an opportunity.
Indi Hartwell’s still there. She’s my daughter and I think the world of her. I think she is a superstar in every sense of the word, I think she just needs an opportunity and she’s going to shock the world. She’s someone that you turn the light on, and man, she will be entertaining. She is not just entertaining in the ring but as we’ve seen with the wedding and things like that, I think Indi is such an untapped diamond that they haven’t tapped into yet.”
Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez are the current NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions – despite their recent dissolution – a title that was also previously held by Indi Hartwell alongside Candice LeRae in The Way.
Officially signing with WWE in April 2016, Johnny Gargano enjoyed a fruitful WWE career, which included having the company’s first five-star-rated match in seven years from Dave Meltzer. That was vs. Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas, with this also being voted the 2018 Match of the Year as part of the NXT Year-End Awards.
Now a free agent, Gargano’s fans are awaiting his next move. He’s taken time away from wrestling to focus on bringing up his son, but has started attending meet-and-greet signings. Where, exactly, he wrestles next remains unknown, though, Johnny Gargano has been linked with a debut for All Elite Wrestling since leaving WWE.
