Johnny Gargano – “Kenny Omega Is One Of, If Not The, Best Wrestler In The World”

Kenny Omega enters with the AEW World Title

Former NXT star Johnny Gargano has praised AEW’s Kenny Omega as being possibly the best wrestler in the world.

Johnny Gargano became a free agent on December 10th after his NXT contract expired, bringing an end to an incredible six-year run on the formerly black and gold brand. Fittingly, his final match was as part of Team Black and Gold at WarGames on December 5th.

At the event, Gargano and fellow NXT veterans Pete Dunne and Tomasso Ciampa, as well as LA Knight, were defeated by the up-comers of Team 2.0, Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller, and Tony D’Angelo.

On the following edition of NXT 2.0, ‘Johnny Wrestling’ gave an emotional address to fans before being viciously attacked by Grayson Waller.

After the show went off the air Johnny Gargano was joined by Kyle O’Reilly for a curtain call with both men getting the chance to say goodbye to the NXT fans as they both embark on new adventures.

Since leaving, Gargano has played down the prospects of returning to the ring anytime soon, saying on a recent Twitch stream that his next adventure will be fatherhood, with he and Candice LeRae’s first child being due in February 2022.

However, during another video for his Twitch channel, the former NXT Champion was asked by a fan for his thoughts on AEW’s Kenny Omega and revealed that he believes the former AEW Champion is one of the best wrestlers in the world right now and said that a bout with him would be a “dream match”.

“I think Kenny is one of, if not the, best wrestler in the world currently. So, I know that’s a dream match for a lot of people, me and Kenny, and it’s a dream match for me, too. So, who knows what can happen one day.”

Kenny Omega is also currently out of action, but in his case, it is due to a build-up of injuries. He will reportedly require multiple surgeries for different issues which will leave him on the shelf for several months.
