Johnny Gargano hopes to leave SummerSlam as a champion.
Unable to capture either of the Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania in a chaotic ladder match, Johnny Wrestling is already looking to The Biggest Party of the Summer. Gargano, who is from Cleveland, Ohio, is hoping that he can be placed in a particular title match as the hometown crowd cheers him on inside the Cleveland Browns Stadium.
Although current United States Champion Logan Paul is also from the Ohio area as he grew up in Westlake, Gargano looks to win his first main roster championship alongside best friend Tommaso Ciampa.
Speaking with DC101, Gargano stated that he wanted another shot at becoming Tag Team Champion at SummerSlam:
“Logan Paul is the United States Champion and has been an incredible champion so far. Miz, us Cleveland guys, having a Cleveland showdown would be something special, but we just got drafted to SmackDown and we have not gotten a shot at the WWE Tag Team Titles yet. We have not won a title yet on Raw or SmackDown. We said that was our goal for 2024.
If the stars were to align and me and Tommaso were to get a title match at SummerSlam for the Tag Team Titles, I want to put that out into the universe. To be able to have a title match at SummerSlam in Cleveland Browns stadium, with that crazy atmosphere. I can only imagine what the crowd would be like for that. It’d be something I would remember for a long time and the culmination of work if we were able to make that happen,”

Although #DIY have been reunited on the main roster, the reunion actually took a lot longer than originally expected. Back in 2023, it was detailed how the original reunion between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa was supposed to take place.
