John Silver of the Dark Order has revealed that he and tag team partner Alex Reynolds thought they were on the chopping block when the pandemic hit wrestling.

In an interview on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, the AEW star revealed that he and Reynolds – formerly known as The Beaver Boys on the independent scene – thought they had been replaced.

Silver explained:

“Me and Alex [Reynolds] thought we were going to get fired when the pandemic hit. New York was in lockdown, so we couldn’t go to any shows. And they Stu [Grayson] and [Evil] Uno are from Canada, they couldn’t do any shows.

We had Brodie do his debut, then after that, we weren’t there so they added 5 [Alan Angels] and 10 [Preston Vance]. We were like ‘OK that’s it, those are our replacements’ because they both go to Cody’s school, The Nightmare Factory.

Silver then discussed the one thing that he felt turn things around for the duo – appearing on Being The Elite on YouTube:

We eventually came back, we were in bad spirits, me and Alex. We decided to do the BTE stuff and that completely changed everything.”

The Dark Order would become hugely popular through their appearances on BTE. John Silver in particular has been singled out for his comedic skills. Silver has even won the show’s own championship by defeating Trent in a water bottle flip-off.

Silver and Reynolds are due to be part of the Casino Tag Team Royal at AEW Revolution on Sunday, 7th March. The winners of that battle royal will earn an AEW Tag Team Championship match. Currently, the champions are The Young Bucks, however, they defend their titles at Revolution against MJF and Chris Jericho.
