John Cena turns down the possibility of a big-name match on his retirement tour.
Cena’s final run has seen the 17-time Champion take on a variety of opponents, ranging from current stars such as Cody to reigniting his old rivalries.
The WWE Undisputed Champion is currently gearing up for a showdown with CM Punk at Night of Champions, but he still made time for an appearance at the SummerSlam Kickoff show.
During a Q&A segment, John Cena, staying in his heel persona, tried to dodge the questions. When asked if there were any other “boxes he’d like to check off” on his final run, the Cenation leader turned to the fans for suggestions
When someone in the audience named one of his most storied rivals, Triple H, the Doctor of Thuganomics shot down the suggestion, saying:
“Hunter Hearst Helmsley [Triple H]? No, we can’t do that one. I don’t know, we’ll see how it plays out. I got until December.”

While fans would have loved to see the old rivals have another bout, the likelihood of that happening is low as the WWE CCO stepped away from in-ring action after undergoing surgery for heart-related issues in 2021.
