John Cena’s Retirement Tour Could Kick Off Against 5-Time WWE Champion

It has been speculated that John Cena could potentially face a fellow multi-time world champion as his first opponent on his retirement tour.

John Cena is set to embark on a Farewell Tour throughout 2025 as he prepares to retire from professional wrestling. With speculation mounting about Cena’s opponents during this milestone tour, Chris Van Vliet has weighed in with a compelling suggestion: Seth Rollins.

Cena has already confirmed appearances at the 2025 Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber premium live events, though it remains unclear whether he will participate in gimmick matches or compete in singles bouts.

During the AskCVV segment of his Insight podcast, Van Vliet responded to fan questions about Cena’s potential first opponent. He proposed Rollins, a decorated champion and one of WWE’s most celebrated performers, as an ideal choice.

It feels like a great first opponent for him. I’m not talking storyline here, or just throw him in the ring with this person, and you know it’s gonna be great. Seth Rollins. I think John Cena is gonna have a match with Seth Rollins at some point in time in 2025. I could see that being his first match.

Rollins, a two-time WWE Champion, two-time Universal Champion, and a former World Heavyweight Champion, would bring star power and history to Cena’s farewell tour. The two have faced off in the past, delivering memorable matches that highlight their chemistry and in-ring storytelling.

Does Ric Flair Think John Cena Will Break The Title Win Record On His Retirement Tour?

Ric Flair spoke about the possibility of John Cena breaking the world title win record on his retirement tour and doesn’t believe it will happen because he thinks Cena doesn’t care about the record. Both Cena and Flair currently have 16 world title wins each and if Cena were to win a final world championship on his retirement tour he would break the record and become the sole record holder.

In other news, a former WWE Champion is hoping to return to retire CM Punk.
