John Cena is reportedly being discussed to make an appearance at WWE’s first show back on the road in front of fans this July.

WWE will be returning to the road from July 16th according to a new report as the company begins its touring schedule once again as the world emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sports Illustrated has reported that the company will resume life on the road on July 16th with SmackDown in Houston at the Toyota Center. Recently rumours had circulated that Fox was keen for WWE to get back in front of live fans in line with other sports in the US.

The Money In The Bank pay-per-view will follow on Sunday the 18th of July emanating out of Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. The next night will see Raw take place inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas. These shows will be the first in what is reported to be a 25-city touring schedule that runs through to Labor Day [6th of September].

In a news update from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, it is reported that the sixteen-time world champion John Cena could be set to make a return to the WWE ring, with it being under discussion within the company.

Cena’s last WWE appearance came in the cinematic Firefly Fun House match at WrestleMania 36 in 2020. In the unique match, Cena fell to apparent defeat after falling victim to The Fiend Bray Wyatt’s mandible claw.

WrestleMania 37 saw the return of fans to Raymond James Stadium where over 25,000 of them attended each night. But prior to that the last time WWE held a show in front of fans was Raw on the 9th of March in Washington DC. On that night the fans in the Capital One Arena witnessed the main event of the Authors Of Pain, Murphy, and Seth Rollins defeating The Street Profits and The Viking Raiders.

With a return to touring in front of live fans, this news will also spell the end for the WWE ThunderDome. The company had used screens to show fans watching at home in lieu of a live crowd. The ThunderDome has been housed in the Amway Center, Tropicana Field, and most recently the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.
