Fresh off the launch of his Peacemaker series, John Cena is now jumping into the wacky world of Looney Tunes.
The former WWE Champion has been confirmed for the upcoming Dave Green-helmed Coyote vs. Acme project, which will be a live-action and CG animation hybrid feature film centred on the famed Looney Tunes character, Wile E. Coyote. Cena will play the role of Acme’s lawyer in the feature.
While Green will be directing the project, James Gunn and Chris DeFaria have also been brought on as producers, while Samy Burch has written the latest draft of the script. The film will be based on Ian Frazier’s 1990 article of the same name.
The story will follow a down-on-his-luck attorney who becomes the representative of Wile E. Coyote, who’s suing Acme over some faulty products. Representing Acme is, of course, John Cena, who also happens to be the former boss of the Coyote’s attorney at a previous law firm.
Though he rose to fame as a WWE Superstar with numerous World Championship reigns and WrestleMania main events to his name, John Cena is now a household cross-platform name. Beginning with an uncredited role in 2000’s Ready To Rumble, Cena has since starred in The Marine, 12 Rounds, Daddy’s Home, Fast & Furious 9, and The Suicide Squad, with his role there as Peacemaker seeing him receive his own spinoff series.
Coyote vs. Acme is scheduled to begin production in New Mexico next month, meaning a release date is impossible to know at the moment.
