Fresh off the back of appearing at WrestleMania 39, John Cena is already working on a new WWE project.
As noted by the Hollywood Reporter, Cena will produce a new docuseries titled “WWE: Recruits” which will premiere on Roku. The eight-part series will follow a group of would-be Superstars as they attempt to launch careers with WWE.
The series will include appearances from Cena as well as Triple H, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, and Bianca Belair. Filming has already begun, including some content shot at WrestleMania 39.
In a press release, Cena said that he was excited to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at how stars rise through WWE’s ranks.
“Millions around the world watch and dream of it, but only a handful of extraordinary individuals can become a WWE Superstar. I am so excited to bring WWE: Recuits to The Roku Channel and look forward to giving viewers an exclusive all-access perspective on how the WWE turns the dreams of talented young people into a reality.”
Sean Boyle, the Head of adventure and exploration programming for Roku Channel added:
“Roku Original series WWE: Recruits not only unpacks how the WWE transforms unknown athletes into world-renowned stars, but also invites audiences into the lives of an unforgettable group of young people chasing their ultimate dream. We could not be more excited to work with the icon himself, John Cena, as our executive producer and our outstanding partners, the WWE and A. Smith & Co Productions, to share the untold story of this high-stakes world.”
John Cena Loses Out To Austin Theory
John Cena returned to the ring at WrestleMania 39 to take on Austin Theory for the United States Title. The match was Cena’s first since December 30th, 2022, and his first at WrestleMania since WrestleMania 36.
However, despite his vast experience, it was Theory who picked up the win, to extend his US Title reign.
