John Cena Was “Very Lucky” To Have Cameo Role In Barbie
John Cena is no stranger to beach-related roles, having made a cameo appearance as a merman in 2023’s Barbie. Though his appearance is brief, Cena made a splash as Mermaid Ken, donning a blond wig and shell necklace as he greeted Barbie from the water.
According to the star himself, he was “very lucky” to have the opportunity to make the appearance. Speaking in an interview with Extra, he said:
“That one man, that’s a four leaf clover for me. I was really lucky. I’m very grateful for all the opportunities that come our way. But I was especially lucky for that.”
Continuing, Cena praised the success of the film and said that his role took little effort on his part.
“Didn’t have to do much. Just put on a fish tail and a blonde wig and let all the talented folks do the rest. It’s great to see, not only the film be so successful amongst the consumers out there, but certainly with the critics as well.” (h/t SEScoops)
John Cena last made an appearance in WWE when he made a surprise return at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, PA. During the match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns in the main event of night two, Cena made a run-in to even the odds on behalf of Cody Rhodes against The Bloodline.
The next night, Cena returned to official in-ring action when he served as the mystery partner for R-Truth and The Miz in their match against Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh of The Judgment Day.
Cena was reportedly in France ahead of Backlash, but he did not appear on the show.
As a part of his newest project, John Cena has sported a brand new look.
