John Cena Swerves Fans, AGAIN

John Cena

John Cena completely blindsided fans once again at SummerSlam.

Over the weekend on SmackDown, John Cena took fans by surprise. After months of playing the quintessential heel, Cena seemingly returned to his babyface persona without any notice. It was a complete 180, and fans loved it.

Well, tonight, during the main event of SummerSlam, the Last Real Champion swerved the WWE Universe again. He did so, with his entrance music.

Following Cody Rhodes‘ entrance, fans were eagerly waiting for John Cena’s music to hit. At first, there was a tinge of disappointment as the jumbotron went black and his name popped up in bold. Some fans may have been convinced that the whole babyface turn was a ruse, but that’s when all the classic Cena animations began popping up on the screen.

It was an awesome moment, as the fans in the MetLife Stadium got the Cena experience that everyone knows and loves. From the hyped up initial entry to the typical sprint down the ramp and into the ring. It was an amazing trip down memory lane after months of “nothing” from the 48-year-old.

John Cena claims he “does not” want to ruin wrestling

Speaking of John Cena’s return to being a babyface, he took back some of his previous heelish statements. In particular, he changed his mind about his initial plan to “ruin wrestling.”

Upon turning heel, the Never Seen Seventeen made it clear that he wanted to retire with the Undisputed WWE Championship and “ruin wrestling.” He wanted to do this because he felt as though the WWE Universe had treated him poorly throughout his career.

However, on last week’s episode of SmackDown, Cena took back those words and admitted that he, in fact, “does not want to ruin wrestling.” Instead, he wants to retire with the title, so that the fans will always remember him.
