John Cena Smashes Five Year Streak At WWE Fastlane

John Cena on WWE SmackDown

John Cena‘s victory at WWE Fastlane brought an unfortunate streak to an end.

At Fastlane, John Cena continued his feud with The Bloodline when he teamed up with LA Knight to take on Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa.

Uso and Sikoa took charge at the beginning of the bout, focussing their attack on Cena and isolating him from his tag partner. Cena was eventually able to find an opening when he got his knees up to counter a splash from Sikoa. This allowed him to give Knight the hot tag to Knight.

The match soon descended into chaos from there. With all four men in the ring, bodies were flying everywhere, Jimmy was able to hit an Uso Splash on Cena while Solo dropped Knight with a Samoan Drop, but Knight came back with strikes to both men.

The end came after Knight Superplexed Uso off the top rope and Cena followed up with a Five Knuckle Shuffle. Knight then hit Blunt Force Trauma for the pinfall win.

John Cena ends five-year losing streak

The victory not only gave Cena some retribution against The Bloodline, but marked the end of a losing streak he’s suffered since 2018 as it was his first win at a Premium Live Event since that year’s Super ShowDown.

At that event, Cena teamed up with Bobby Lashley to defeat Elias and Kevin Owens. His next three PLE appearances were losses, with Bray Wyatt beating him in a Firefly Fun House match at WrestleMania 36, while Roman Reigns marked his first year as the Univeral Champion by defeating the star at SummerSlam in 2021.

Earlier this year, Austin Theory also overcame the 16-time World Champion to retain the United States Title at WrestleMania 39.

The win at Fastlane won’t be the last we see of Cena this year, either, as he has already been advertised for Crown Jewel on November 4th. Although his opponent for the event in Saudi Arabia hasn’t been confirmed yet, one thing we do know is that it won’t be a rematch against Roman Reigns.

After that appearance, John Cena’s future in WWE is up in the air as the star has admitted his time in the company is limited.
