John Cena has thanked fans for welcoming him back to SmackDown in 2023.

Due to the Hollywood writer’s strike, Cena was able to have a short run on SmackDown in the last few months of the year. During that time, the star helped out the likes of LA Knight and Seth Rollins as well as becoming embroiled in a feud with The Bloodline.

In his last appearance, Cena was decisively defeated by Solo Sikoa at WWE Crown Jewel on November 4th after Sikoa landed multiple Samoan Spikes on the star.

John Cena Toasts Fans On SmackDown

Despite the circumstances of his departure, Cena still wanted to thank fans for welcoming him back to the blue brand with open arms. On the last SmackDown of 2023, Cena appeared on video to toast the fans.

“WWE Universe, John Cena here, all dressed up to celebrate a wonderful group of people. A toast to the WWE Universe for making my 2023.

“As you know, I was able to return to SmackDown in the fall, and the reception and the respect, I will never forget. I do not know how much time in the WWE I have left, but I do know in recent times when I’ve been able to return home, you have always welcomed me as one of your own.

“I am forever indebted to your generosity, your empathy, your respect, and your excitement. I look forward to the next time we can get together, but I wanted to take a moment to truly say thank you for making this a wonderful year for me and for my family.

“To the WWE Universe. Until the next round. Cheers.”

In one of the many lookbacks of his career on social media, John Cena has been extremely complimentary of a long-time rival.
