John Cena paid tribute to recently released superstar R-Truth in subtle fashion.
The Last Real Champion, John Cena’s “last real” opponent, was his biggest fan, R-Truth. The two butted heads on Saturday Night’s Main Event a few weeks ago, in what was Truth’s penultimate match as a WWE Superstar. Shortly after, it was revealed that he had been released from his contract.
Since then, there has been an outcry of support for R-Truth, with fans routinely chanting “We want Truth” at events. This was the case tonight on WWE SmackDown, as fans chanted the same thing while Cena was on the mic closing out the show. Well, not one to let the opportunity go to waste, the Undisputed WWE Champion used this to his advantage.
Not only did John Cena echo the chants, but he also followed it up by claiming the WWE Universe couldn’t “handle the truth.” If that wasn’t enough of a tribute, he also wondered if the fans wanted to know his and Logan Paul‘s truth, saying, “You want our truth.”

It was an incredible and witty play on words from Cena. Despite their recent feud, the 48-year-old is close friends and holds great respect for R-Truth, and this was his way of showing his love and support for him.
John Cena must now focus on Money in the Bank
John Cena’s tribute to R-Truth will certainly not go underappreciated, however, he has bigger things to think about. After all, in roughly 24 hours, he will be teaming up with Logan Paul to take on Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso at Money in the Bank.
Although they go home with the momentum after tonight’s beatdown on SmackDown, Cena and Paul will need to be wary. They may walk into the Intuit Dome battered and bruised, but both Rhodes and Uso will put up a fight, and if they’re not careful, The Last Real Champion and The Maverick could leave Los Angels as the losers.
