John Cena Open To All Plans Regarding A Final WWE Match; Discusses The Possibility Of Coaching

John Cena is prepared to do what’s best for business when it comes to his final match in WWE.

First debuting on SmackDown in 2002 against Kurt Angle, Cena has become one of the biggest names in wrestling and ties Ric Flair with 16 World Championship wins, the most in company history. Now predominantly focused on TV and movie projects, Cena is winding down his career and competing on a part-time basis.

Recognising that his in-ring career will be coming to an end in the near future, Cena has discussed the final stages of his career and what his dream final match would be.

Speaking with People.com, Cena has admitted that he only wants to return when it is for something meaningful and has been working on plans to write the final chapter of his career:

“I turned 47 this past year and I don’t have much time left in the WWE. You know, I’m trying to figure out when to close that chapter. I wouldn’t be who I am — professionally or personally — without the WWE, and I promised myself that I would never simply just be there for my own sake. Every time I perform, I want to give my all to the audience. And I’ve got to admit when I hit the 45 mark, I had to begin to try to form an exit strategy and I’m trying to work on that currently.”

Having a historic career, many are expecting the Hollywood star to end it in a big way with a monumental final match. However, according to Cena, he is willing to be a part of whichever storyline the company feels is best:

“I just want to do what’s best for the company. If it’s a big final match or if it’s just a final match, or however I can be integrated into the product to let everyone know that this chapter is over, I’m willing to listen to what WWE has to say.”

Looking back on his legendary career, John Cena is thankful to have been able to compete against one of the all-time greats in WWE.

Will John Cena Mentor The Next Generation?

Many former wrestlers still remain in the company after in-ring retirement either in a coaching or mentoring capacity. During the same interview, Cena expressed an interest in becoming a mentor for the future stars of WWE:

“I do have almost two and a half decades of wisdom built up where I think I can offer a mentor perspective for sure. So, if I am not integrated with the WWE family moving forward and in perpetuity, then I think it’s a waste for everyone involved.”

In a recent interview, a rising star on the NXT roster recalled advice John Cena gave to the roster when he visited the Performance Center.
