John Cena has taken Scottish journalists, politicians, and independence activists by surprise with his latest Twitter following spree.
According to The National, Cena, known for his roles in “Fast and Furious 9” and “Suicide Squad,” followed notable figures in the Scottish political sphere such as Ross Greer, the Green MSP, Kate Forbes, the Scottish Finance Secretary, and Peter Murrell, CEO of the SNP and husband of Nicola Sturgeon.
Scottish comedian Eleanor Morton and SNP strategist Ross Colquhoun also expressed their surprise at being followed by the WWE Legend. Amy Callaghan, East Dunbartonshire’s MP, told The National:
“I was under the impression that John Cena ‘couldn’t see me’ so getting a follow from him was surprising, to say the least. He seems to be following a whole host of journalists, politicians, and activists throughout Scotland. Perhaps he’s having an ‘Attitude Adjustment’ and is ‘wrestling’ with the concept of independence.”
John Cena Was Invited To The Scottish Parliament After His Latest Twitter Following Spree
John Cena has 14 million followers on Twitter and often posts motivational tweets to his fans. Kirkcaldy MSP David Torrance took to Twitter to express his excitement at being followed by Cena, inviting the wrestler back to Scotland for a tour of the Scottish Parliament.
“Thanks for the follow @JohnCena – if you’re ever in Scotland I would be more than happy to give you a tour of the Scottish Parliament.”

Cena follows over 500,000 people on his Twitter account, which increases the likelihood of appearing on his timeline and allows him to send and receive messages. This latest spree follows Cena’s following of dozens of Scottish journalists and outlets, including those from The National. The actor has yet to comment on his recent Twitter activity.
Meanwhile, John Cena’s potential return to the WWE for WrestleMania 39 to face Austin Theory has been a hot topic of discussion amongst wrestling fans. Cena recently returned to the ring on SmackDown in December teaming with Kevin Owens against The Bloodline. If Cena is indeed to return, it would be a major event for the WWE. With the recent reports from Dave Meltzer that The Rock and Steve Austin would not be competing in matches, it makes a Cena match feel that much bigger on the two night card on April 1st and 2nd.
