John Cena Gives WWE Major Boost Ahead Of Raw Return

John Cena

On February 20th it was announced that John Cena is returning to WWE and will be on Raw very soon.

Cena will be appearing on the March 6th edition of the red brand at the TD Garden in Boston. Although there is no news on what the 16-time World Champion will be doing on the show, it’s widely believed that he will be setting up a WrestleMania match with Austin Theory.

Although the show remains well over a week away, WWE is already feeling the benefit of his comeback. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE has sold a further 2000 tickets for the show since it was confirmed that Cena would be appearing. This comes after he boosted both ticket sales and television ratings upon returning to SmackDown in December.

“They announced John Cena on Monday night, right? They’ve sold 2,000 more tickets as of this (Wednesday) morning with the announcement, so they’ll probably end up selling out.

The guy, make no mistake about it, just the announcing of John Cena… when he was in Laredo, Texas, the first one, where he sold out the building (for his 20th anniversary show on June 27, 2022). And then Tampa he sold out again (December 30, 2022).

Tampa did not have anything special as an advance, it was a normal advance, and then as soon as they announced John Cena, tickets started moving really, really quick. And the other show was the same thing.

Boston was fine (March 6, 2023), they were over 7,000 tickets – 7,700 tickets out when they announced him. And they’re at probably 10,000 right now, just under 10 as of this (Wednesday) morning, so I would guess over 10 right now. So the guy can move tickets, that was pretty impressive.”

Austin Theory Promises To Give John Cena A Warm Welcome

Speaking after his latest United States Title defence on Raw, Austin Theory was in a bullish mood about Cena’s comeback. After earlier questioning why Cena had taken all of the headlines meant for him after his victory at Elimination Chamber, Theory promised to give the WWE a “warm, warm welcome” when he appears on Raw.
