John Cena has detailed his thought process behind the timeframe of his upcoming WWE retirement.
Following his appearance at Money in the Bank, Cena stated that WrestleMania 41 would be his last and that his final match would be in December next year. While other wrestlers have hinted at a rough date for the final match or have announced it shortly after all is said and done, Cena has taken the more unorthodox strategy of giving more than one year’s notice of plans for his final send-off.
Appearing on CBS Mornings, Cena stated that he likes having an end date as he wants to be held accountable to the fans:
“I feel great. My last performance in the WWE ring will be in December 2025, period, and I like saying that because if I lie to my audience, they’re gonna call me on my BS.”
Continuing, Cena also stated that while he does not know what will happen in the immediate future, he plans to make every day meaningful:
“I’ll know what’s next when it comes up, but I know if I wake up every day and say, ‘How can I earn the sunset?’ I’m going to do something useful, and that’s going to lead to something to be done.”
In recent news, John Cena shared what insult from WWE fans he thought was “wonderful.”
